Sit-in on Apr 8 before home ministry

Journalists will state a sit-in programme in Dhaka on Apr 8 as part of their ongoing agitation demanding arrest and trial of the killers of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi.

President of a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury announced on Sunday that the programme will be staged in front of the home ministry. Leaders of the other factions of BFUJ were also present there.

8 BSF men sent to jail for torturing a Bangladeshi

Eight Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, guilty of torturing a young Bangladeshi man in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, were given an 89-day jail term last night, BSF officials said.
After serving time in BSF's "quarter guard" (equivalent of police jail) they will resume duty.
